Kratom is banned in Louisiana. As of August 1, 2025, mitragynine and 7-hydroxymitragynine are Schedule I controlled substances, and a separate law makes it a crime to produce, distribute, or possess kratom. State law also lists Mitragyna speciosa as a prohibited plant.
